UniCom is a consortium of five New Zealand universities that collaborate to maximise the commercial potential of public sector research. The UniCom consortium is made up of WaikatoLink Ltd, the commercialisation office of the University of Waikato, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Lincoln University, University of Canterbury, and VicLink, the commercialisation off for Victoria University.

The mission of UniCom is to encourage collaboration rather than competitiveness between public research institutions, aiming to maximise commercial benefits to New Zealand. Increased collaboration facilitates broader collective expertise, sharing of commercial and development networks and an overall improvement in commercial capability and outcomes.

UniCom’s goal is to bridge the gap between knowledge generation and the progression of technology to market readiness. UniCom’s broad portfolio of intellectual property (IP) provides an overview of current areas of technology development.
